Most people may think that the term addiction is associated with drug addiction. Don’t you know that there are two types of addiction: physiological intoxication and behavioural addiction. Physiological intoxication is the abuse of certain chemical substances such as nicotine, alcohol and drugs that may change individual’s feelings and perceptions.
These substances may lead harmful consequences to the individual’s health, mental state and social life. If this addiction persists, the individual displays recurring compulsion state of mind to maintain the strong reliance on these substances. Similarly, behavioural addiction is the addiction towards specific activities such as gambling, work, shopping and television for self-completions. |
| Like physiological intoxication, behavioural addiction may harmful consequences to the individual’s health, mental state and social life. Sadly, once individual experiences behavioural addiction, it is possible that this individual ends up with physiological intoxication due to abusing certain substances while displaying behavioural addiction. |
